I Am Invincible x Ghaliah (by Secret Savings)
Standing at Hunter Valley, NSW

A fast and precocious two year-old trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Santos was a winner at the spring two year-old trials and made his debut with a good third in the Listed ATC Breeders Plate.

A son of champion sire I Am Invincible, Santos returned in the autumn with an easy victory in the $150,000 ATC Pierro Plate at Randwick and then booked his place in the Group I ATC Golden Slipper with a tenacious win in the Group II ATC Skyline Stakes (1200m).

The Skyline traditionally attracts a high class field of colts and has been a great race for producing future stallions with past winners including Snitzel, Choisir, Hinchinbrook and Manhattan Rain, the sire of Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign.

Bred by Emirates Park, Santos comes from one of their most successful families being a half-brother to Japanese Group III winner Melagrana from a half-sister to Group winners Mutawaajid, Adeewin and Fatoon, the dam of Group I ATC Epsom Handicap winner Fat Al.

Completely free of Danehill blood, Santos has the good looks, natural speed and quality that are the hallmarks of his famous sire I Am Invincible, so will make wide appeal to broodmare owners this spring.

  • Group II winning juvenile stakes-winner of ATC Skyline Stakes.
  • By I Am Invincible, renowned speed sire and sire of exciting young sire Brazen Beau
  • Bred by renowned breeders Emirates Park, who also bred and sold champion sire Encosta de Lago
  • Past winners of the Group II Skyline Stakes include including Snitzel, Choisir, Hinchinbrook and Manhattan Rain, the sire of Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign.
  • “I’ve won Golden Slippers with three colts, Sebring, Pierro and Vancouver, and Santos reminds me of those horses.”

Gai Waterhouse, Trainer Daily Telegraph, 20 March 2018

  • “Santos is a very nice horse and his dam and grand dam all ran as 2YO's. It is a precocious family, it's a family that we know very well, he is by the best stallion in Australia and he is Danehill free, so we will support him with some very nice Emirates mares."
