Tosen Phantom x Tosen Smash (by Tokai Teio)
Standing at Canungra, QLD
The Sunday Silence sireline is one of the most powerful in the world and with the continued success of Japanese-bred runners in Australia, the inclusion of dual Gr.1-winning sprinter Brave Smash (Jpn) as a member of Aquis’ stallion roster is an outstanding opportunity for breeders.
Purchased from Japan as a tried horse by Australian Bloodstock in 2017, Brave Smash arrived with the reputation of being a serious sprinter and quickly made his mark finishing third in the inaugural $10m The Everest behind Redzel and Vega Magic.
Competing consistently at the top level, winning the Gr.1 MRC Futurity Stakes (WFA, 1400m) and MVRC Manikato Stakes (WFA, 1200m) Brave Smash also gained further elite level placings in the VRC Newmarket Handicap (twice), MVRC AJ Moir Stakes and MRC CF Orr Stakes.
The fastest entire to win the Manikato Stakes, in a time quicker than outstanding sprinters Lankan Rupee, Chautauqua and Redoute’s Choice, Brave Smash is the fastest son from the Sunday Silence sireline to stand at stud in Australia.
As the best offspring of Tosen Phantom, a grand-son of legendary sire Sunday Silence, from a female family which features Japanese Champions Daiwa Scarlet, Daiwa Major and Vermilion, Brave Smash was supported by many of Australia’s leading breeders in his first season including Australian Bloodstock, Glenlogan Park Stud, Mt Hallowell Stud, Pencarrow Thoroughbreds, Rothwell Park Stud, Toolooganvale Farm, Highgrove Stud, Bhima Thoroughbreds, Bowness Stud and Holbrook Thoroughbreds.
"Brave Smash really impressed me… we’re sending him several mares off the back of how he looked on type. He looked very much like an Australian horse, rather different to the other Japanese sires I’ve seen. He’s a strong sprinter build, medium sized with plenty of quality."
Mike Fleming, Bhima
"On the track he was an impressive multiple Gr.1 winner and after inspecting him, it further cements what an absolute stunner Brave Smash is. He’s in the mould of a top-class Australian sprinter with plenty of quality and strength, and Highgrove Stud I have supported him at stud."
Ron Gilbert, Highgrove Stud
"Physically he will let down into an imposing stallion that our Breeders demand. If he passes on his incredible turn of foot to his progeny he is sure to as big a success in the barn."
Jamie Lovett, Australian Bloodstock
