Smart Elissim Romps Home On Debut

The 2YO gelding Smart Elissim romped home on debut at Sale under jockey Craig Williams who was easing-up on the youngster at the line with the final winning margin 5 lengths.

An $80,000 purchase for Lindsay Park from the Aquis draft at the 2017 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, the 2YO races in the colours of Aquis, who have retained a share in the promising gelding.

Trainer David Hayes was bullish after the victory and is looking forward to the spring with this exciting son of Smart Missile who is out of the Testa Rossa mare Nobody But You.

The Aquis-owned Nobody But You is currently in-foal to Holy Roman Emperor, and has a 2017 weanling filly by So You Think. Her 2016 yearling filly by Fastnet Rock sold for $360,000 to George Moore at this year’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

The victory of Smart Elissim brought to 90 the number of wins Aquis runners have enjoyed this season to-date. A full list of all our winners this season can be viewed here.

It has been a big season for Aquis and partners with 8 individual Stakes winners this season to-date, headed by the Group 2 winning 2YOs Lean Mean Machine and Sunlight, who was 3rd in the Group 1 Golden Slipper.

Following Thursday’s performance, it looks like it will be only a matter of when and not if, that Smart Elissim will add his name to the ever-growing list of Aquis-raced Stakes winners.
