Pierata’s Rose Connection

As the traditional lead up race to Gr.1 Golden Rose, the Gr.2 Run To The Rose (1200m) is a high-quality pointer to future outstanding success, both on and off the track.

Won impressively in 2018 by Aquis’ Lean Mean Machine, whose first crop foals are currently arriving, another exciting recent winner of the race was 2YO Triple Crown winner Pierro, the sire of Aquis’ Gr.1 All Aged Stakes winner Pierata.

One of two first crop sires at stud by his Champion First and Second Season Sire Pierro, the other being Aquis’ fellow first crop sire Bellevue Hill, Pierata has commenced covering his exceptional first book of mares, which included the recently retired, dual Gr.1-winning, Champion 3YO Filly Loving Gaby.

Another mare recently covered by Pierata was the Gleeson Thoroughbred Connections-owned Smokin’ Hussay, a sister to Saturday’s Gr.2 Run To The Rose winner and $14 million The Everest aspirant Rothfire.

A winner of the Gr.1 BRC JJ Atkins at 2, Rothfire resumed in the Run To The Rose to recorded his seventh career win and third at black type level, adding significant residual broodmare value to his winning sister Smokin’ Hussay who was covered by the six-time black-type winner on the first day of the breeding season.
