It was a fruitful weekend in Macau for Aquis graduates – Derby Favourite Pearl Green (Fastnet Rock) was a facile 3L winner of the Group 1 Macau Guineas (L, 1500m) – the second leg of the Triple Crown.
The 4YO is another successful private purchase brokered by Aquis for its extensive Asian client base and has taken the local racing scene by storm since joining the stable of K H Leong. Saturday’s effort was all the more impressive considering he was first-up after a spell, having won the Group 3 Derby Trial (L) – the first leg of the Triple Crown – by an emphatic 4.5L on his previous start.
If Pearl Green takes out the final race of the Macau Triple Crown series he will be only the second horse in history to complete the feat, following in the steps of Luen Yat Forever (Honours List) who won the Macau Triple Crown in 2010.
Also, on Saturday, Luen On Dance Kid (Snitzel) continued his winning ways when taking out the Macau Canberra Handicap (1200m) from the older Peekskill (Northern Meteor).
Trained by Geoff Allendorf, the 3YO has proved to be a bargain buy for connections who secured him (unraced) for $14,000 from Aquis’ 2017 Magic Millions Spring Racehorse Sale. His record now stands at 3 wins and 1 placing from 4 starts.
