The first session of the NZB National Weanling Sale at Karaka on Monday was topped by a stylish colt by Aquis Farm’s top class shuttler Holy Roman Emperor (IRE).
Fetching $175,000, the colt was offered by Dan Myers and knocked down to the successful bid of Sydney based ex-pat Kiwi Andrew Williams, who has recently started his own business, Andrew Williams Bloodstock.
The star colt is from Encosta de Lago mare Phocis, who comes from the family of Golden Slipper winner Vancouver and Group I winners Skating and Juste Momente.
“I’ve been very impressed with the quality of weanlings on offer at Karaka,” commented Williams.
“I was particularly taken by the clean and athletic looking Holy Roman Emperor colt who will suit Hong Kong.”
Holy Roman Emperor will return to Aquis Farm this spring at a fee of $9,900.
