Bloodline, the dam of Strategic’s Gr.1 Goodwood Handicap winner Platelet is one of a star studded line up of mares who will be visiting I Am Invincible’s Gr.2-winning son Santos (pictured) in his first season at stud.
Inundated with queries since the announcement of the 2019 Aquis Farm Stallion Roster a few weeks back, the recent success both locally and internationally of the Invincible Spirit sire line, has seen I Am Invincible’s precocious son Santos prove very popular already.
Bred by Graeme Forbes, Platelet had an extremely successful race career with 10 wins highlighted by dual Gr.1 success, while her dam Bloodline has proven a very good producer at stud, having six to the races, all winners.
Forbes still owns Bloodline, and after some deliberation, selected first crop sire Santos for his Gr.1 producing mare.
“I have selected Santos for Bloodline because his pedigree has a great affinity with Bloodline’s through Invincible Spirit and Canny Lad lines. Santos is out of a Secret Savings mare which has worked with Bloodline’s family previously,” stated Forbes.
“Santos is an early maturing high class speed horse who compliments my mare really well physically.”
As a winner of the Gr.2 Skyline Stakes, a race won in the past by Snitzel, Choisir, Hinchinbrook and Manhattan Rain, all Gr.1 producing sires, Santos is set to cover his first book of mares in the Hunter Valley at a fee of $16,500 (inc. GST).
