The epitome of juvenile speed, Snitzel’s unbeaten two-year-old Jukebox retired to Aquis for the 2018 breeding season, and with his first foals arriving on the ground this season, the Aquis team could not be happier with the outstanding quality they’re seeing.
The Ciaron Maher-trained colt was successful at Geelong on his racetrack debut before producing a dominant display at Caulfield to capture the $250,000 Listed Inglis Premier (1200m) by a widening two lengths margin.
At his first start at three, the colt took out the stallion-making Gr.3 Vain Stakes (1100m), a race won in the past by Gr.1 sires Starspangledbanner and Sepoy, before splitting Gr.1 winners Catchy and Booker, when finishing a narrow second in the Gr.2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.
After a further four starts which included a second to Formality in the Gr.3 Blue Sapphire and a third to Gr.1 winner Voodoo Lad in the Gr.3 Monash Stakes when taking on the older sprinters, Jukebox was retired to stand at Aquis’ Hunter Valley base where he covered an exciting first book of mares, with his first crop foals currently being born.
Foaled at Aquis on August 13, the Jukebox x Le Quirky filly (pictured top) is all quality and a fine example of what you look for in a foal.
She was described by Aquis’ Head Of Nominations Jimmy Unwala as a “beautiful filly.”
“Jukebox has upgraded this mare physically. The filly is athletic, has good size, a lovely slope to her shoulder and has plenty of timber,” stated Unwala.
With an exciting black type family behind her, the filly is the second foal of the Henrythenavigator mare Le Quirky from the family of Gr.1 Emirates Stakes winner Sky Cuddle, the ever-consistent Bjorn Baker-trained Gr.2 winner Champagne Cuddles as well as a host of juvenile black type winners including Bassillique and Pitstop.
