Aquis Farm has announced an exciting new partnership with Tara Stud, Co Meath, Ireland, which will see leading sprinter-miler and popular freshman sire Divine Prophet shuttle to stand the 2018 Northern Hemisphere season.
Tara Stud was established in 1906 and has produced numerous top-class horses including the likes of HAYMAKING who won the Coronation and the Nassau Stakes, and WASSL the winner of Irish Two Thousand Guineas, amongst various other Group and Stakes winners. The late KEY OF LUCK, sire of ALMSHAR (Irish Derby and King George Stakes winner) also stood at Tara Stud for almost 16 years.
The stud is managed by Derek Iceton who has over 30 years’ experience in the breeding industry, and he is a leading figure in the Irish Bloodstock world and active at all major sales in Ireland, Great Britain and France. Divine Prophet will join the small select roster at Tara Stud that includes two sons of Dark Angel – Alhebayeb and Estidhkaar. Both were owned and raced by global racing moguls Shadwell Stud.
Commenting on Divine Prophet’s arrival and the partnership with Aquis Farm, Tara Stud principal Derek Iceton said, “The horse is stunningly good looking, with an exceptional walk and perfect conformation. Being a Group 1 sprinter-miler by Choisir, he’s just the type of stallion the market wants. It’s easy to see why the foremost commercial breeders in Australia are raving about him.
“I’m doubly delighted to have been chosen to stand him by Aquis Farm, who have rapidly become a real force in the Australian breeding and racing industry.”
Shane McGrath, Chief Executive Officer of Aquis Farm, was equally upbeat about the arrangement.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Tara Stud to provide European breeders access to the best looking Australian first-season sire of 2017,” Mr McGrath said.
“We have been absolutely thrilled with the start of his stud career in Australia.
“Apart from his obvious good looks, he has a pedigree that oozes class and a race record to match. He has been extremely well received with Australian breeders who recognise the value of G1 performers at two who train on to win a classic at three. His Caulfield Guineas win was exceptional and franked his win in the Up And Coming Stakes.
“He has a physique and quality which appeals and is by a genuine speed sire out of a daughter of a multiple champion broodmare sire, his action will be fully appreciated by European breeders, as it has been here. We are thrilled with the support his shareholders have given us to give Divine Prophet the opportunity to stand at Tara Farm.”
