Achieving an impressive 13 individual winners from his first crop runners, the ill-fated Spill The Beans has been awarded Queensland Leading First Season Sire for the 2019/2020 racing season.
Equaling his own four-time Champion Sire who recorded 13 first crop winners in his debut season, albeit just 10 in Australia, Spill The Beans’ exciting season was due to the outstanding support breeders gave the group-winning son of Snitzel in his first covering season, and continued to do so until his unexpected passing in November 2019.
Recording the equal highest number of winners and sitting in second position on the First Season Sire table on prizemoney with in excess of $1m in earnings, Spill The Beans progeny recorded victory in 22 races.
What made his season even more remarkable was that in terms of the number of races won, it placed Spill The Beans in fourth position on the overall 2YO Sires’ Table with established, Gr.1 producing sires Snitzel, I Am Invincible and Not A Single Doubt ahead of him, defeating the likes of Exceed And Excel, Written Tycoon, Sebring and Fastnet Rock.
With nine starts at two, Spill The Beans’ Tennessee Boy (pictured below) became the leading Leading 2YO on QTIS race wins, achieving five individual victories for his connections.
With the new seasons now upon us, Spill The Beans current 3YO crop have hit the ground running, achieving four winners to date, to sit equally on top of the Leading Second Season Sire table for individual winners.
It is also exciting to note, that as Spill The Beans shuttled to The National Stud in 2018, his first Northern Hemisphere crop will be set to race in 2021.
