Successful at his racetrack debt at Sale in mid-July, scoring by over two lengths, the Lindsay Park Racing-trained Peidra once again showed his class, winning over 1200m at Sandown on Sunday.
Sold through Aquis Farm’s 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale draft for $250,000 to his trainers, the son of Pierro settled behind the leading duo before pulling off their heels to charge home for an impressive two lengths victory to remain unbeaten.
Highlighting himself as a runner full promise, co-trainer Ben Hayes indicated post-race that the 3yo would be given his chance to head towards the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 12.
“We’ll see how he pulls up but I think we’ll plot a path towards the Guineas via the traditional path,” Hayes stated.
“It was a good win today. He was a bit keen in the run and was boxed in early in the straight and had to push out, but to put a gap on them like that was really classy.”
“I don’t think getting out to 1400 metres and then to a mile will be any problem. I think he’s an exciting horse.”
