While some big results were recorded by Aquis at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, the most exciting aspect of the sale was to see how well-received the first crop foals of Spill The Beans were. Off an $11,000 service fee the Spill The Beans weanlings sold for up to $50,000 and averaged over $28,000.
The top-priced colt was Lot 291 out of Love of Liberty, from the draft of Kitchwin Hills, who sold to Segenhoe stud for $50,000. Paul Willets Bloodstock (NZ) went to $45,000 to secure Lot 136 a colt out of Devil’s Angel from the draft of Kenmore Lodge.
Aquis secured two Spill The Beans weanlings who in time will join our racing division, (along with all Aquis-bred first crop foals of Spill The Beans) – Lot 249, a colt out of Kas Nediym from the draft of Warrandale Stud was secured for $42,500, as was the filly out of Belarock (Lot 60) from the draft of Cornerstone Stud.
Blue Sky Bloodstock went to $35,000 to secure Lot 233, a filly out of It’s Game On, while the colt out of Miss Barwang (Lot 322) from Phoenix Broodmare Farm was knocked down to Mullaglass for $30,000. Fernrigg Farm purchased Lot 288, the Lots of Success filly, for $23,000.
In terms of profit margins, Spill The Beans was the second most profitable first crop sire of the sale with 10 or more weanlings sold;

#2 SPILL THE BEANS averaged 2.55x his service fee
#3 Vancouver averaged 2.54x his service fee
#4 Exosphere averaged 2.34x his service fee
#5 Pride of Dubai averaged 2.04x his service fee
#6 Press Statement averaged 1.5x his service fee
Currently standing the Northern Hemisphere season at The National Stud in the UK, Spill The Beans returns to Aquis, QLD, this spring where his fee remains at $11,000 (incl GST) with payment on live foal terms.
