For the third consecutive year, Mrs Loretta Fung, wife of Aquis Chairman Mr Tony Fung, has been fortunate enough to be part of the ownership groups of the victorious juvenile which has claimed the Magic Millions Women’s Bonus.
In the 2018 Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Sunlight was successful in both winning the race itself, as well as being awarded the bonus, while 2019 saw star colt Dubious finish a gallant second in the $2million feature race, but was the first all women owned horse home in the race.
Dubious was back 12 months later, and on Saturday took home the bonus in the 3YO Guineas, being the first horse home eligible for the prize.
The very next race of the meeting saw the Mrs Fung part-owned Away Game recorded a facile victory over her opposition to give her all female ownership group the lucrative bonus as well as the winning prizemoney in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Successful in the Listed Calaway Stakes the start prior, the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained filly overcame barrier 12 in the 16-horse field to settle off the pace before charging home for jockey Luke Currie to win by a length and three-quarters.
“Mrs Fung loves racing her horses and personally coming here to Magic Millions on the coast,” stated Mrs Fung’s Racing Manager Sally Williams. “When you look at her record, you really couldn’t imagine a more successful association with the women’s bonus.”
Away Game not only looks like a very smart filly for the future, but her win added considerable value to her Not A Single Doubt three-quarter-sister that Aquis were able to purchase on the second day of selling at this year’s Magic Millions Yearling Sale from the draft of Segenhoe Stud.
