Aquis Unveils Massive $1,000,000 Breeder Bonus For The Mission

Aquis has unveiled one of the world’s largest-ever breeder bonus schemes, with $1,000,000 on offer for any progeny of debut sire The Mission that wins a 2YO Group 1 in Australia, the $2,000,000 Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Aquis Park or the $2,000,000 Inglis 2YO Millennium at Warwick Farm.

The $1,000,000 Breeder Bonus Challenge celebrates the fact that The Mission is the first Champion 2YO to retire to stud in Queensland in over a decade. The scheme includes bonus payments of between $25,000 and $1,000,000 for any 2YO winner from The Mission’s first crop.

Aquis secured The Mission to stand in 2018 at its Queensland property at Canungra to provide local breeders with a stallion that has the speed and commerciality that all Australian breeders are looking for, but also a stallion that will complement the bloodlines that are particularly prevalent in the Queensland broodmare population.

The Mission was an outstanding juvenile and Co-Champion 2YO in Australia in 2016-17. An extremely precocious son of Choisir, The Mission debuted in the Listed Breeders’ Plate before rounding out his 2YO season with victory in the Group One Champagne Stakes – beating none other than the Co-Champion 2YO, and Group One Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Invader.

The Mission possesses some of the most prepotent bloodlines found in Champion stallions – he is inbred to Danehill via his sensational Champion Sire sons Danehill Dancer and Redoute’s Choice, while his grandam is the Group One Champagne Stakes winner Carry On Cutie, by Champion Sire More Than Ready.

Rated 1lb superior to Trapeze Artist at 2 and running a huge race behind him in the Group One All-Aged Stakes at 3, The Mission hails from the family of the successful sires Pompeii Court – sire of Champion 2YOs Courtza and Pompeii Pearl; and the successful American-based sire Ghazi – sire of Irish Champion 3YO Port Bayou.

Aquis is also showing its continued support and commitment to the Australian thoroughbred racing and breeding industries by donating 10% of all bonus pay-outs to industry-related charities.

“It is important to acknowledge that we in the racing industry are all part of a wider community and we have an obligation to look after those less fortunate than ourselves,” Aquis CEO Shane McGrath said.

“At Aquis we are grateful to be part of a thriving industry that is in a position to give generously to those in need, whether that be improving services within our local community, supporting our farmers in times of drought, helping to improve support networks for stud and stable staff, or ensuring that our much-loved racehorses are given the opportunity to be re-trained and re-homed once they retire from racing.”
