Aquis Stakes Success as Buyer and Seller

In Bloodstock & Breeding, Industry News & Views, Thoroughbred Racing by Ben Ready

Aquis continues to make a big impression across the Australian bloodstock market and Day Two of The Championships was no exception when we recorded a Stakes-double as both buyer and seller on the Morphettville card the same day Winx was making history at Randwick.

The smart 2YO filly Fundamentalist (Not A Single Doubt) was sensational when taking out the Listed Dequetteville Stakes (1050m) by 1 length. Trained by the Hayes and Dabernig stable, Fundamentalist has now won two of her four starts.

Purchased by Aquis and Blue Sky Bloodstock for $135,000 from the Holbrook draft at Magic Millions last year, Fundamentalist is a daughter of the Stakes winner Centafaith who is being offered for sale as Lot 950 in the upcoming Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale, in-foal to Divine Prophet.

Another Magic Millions graduate, Spring Choice (Choisir) took his record to three wins and fours placings from just eight starts when taking out the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas (1800m).

A $120,000 yearling purchased by Next Level Bloodstock/Malua Racing, he was a successful pinhook from the Aquis draft having been bought by 888 Equine for $55,000 at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale. Trained by Leon and Troy Corstens, Spring Choice has won his last three starts and looks a real progressive type.
