Aquis have consigned our largest ever draft for the 2020 Magic Millions National Sales series with an outstanding selection of well-conformed individuals from an array of local and international pedigrees, with many of the mares in foal to our on exciting young stallions.
The Broodmare portion of the sale commences on July 27, where the Aquis draft is headlined by Or Fin (Jpn), a full-sister to the Japanese Horse of the Year and six time Gr.1 winner Orfevre as well as the Champion 2YO Colt Dream Journey, himself a dual Gr.1 winner. Catalogued as Lot 662, Or Fin is the only mare catalogued in foal to Lord Kanaloa, the sire of seven-time Gr.1 winner Almond Eye, as well as Gr.1 winning colts Saturlina, Stelvio and this season’s Blue Diamond winner Tagaloa.
Another exciting mare that will hold international appeal is Sepoy’s stakes placed daughter Acqume, a half-sister to this season’s Gr.3 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint winner Splintex. From the family of stakes winners Hips Don’t Lie, Ennis Hill, Lake Geneva and No More Tears, Lot 633 will be offered in foal to outstanding global sire Lope De Vega, whose 10 Gr.1 winners include local sprinters Santa Ana Lane, Vega Magic and Gytrash.
The dual-winning Commands mare Tremor (Lot 699), a three-quarter-sister to Champion 2YO and Gr.1 Blue Diamond winner Earthquake, sells in foal to one of Australia’s hottest sires in I Am Invincible, While Santos, who covered a large book of mares last season, will be represented by a large array of in-foal mares in the sale including Omniscient (Lot 344), a stakes placed daughter of Exceed And Excel from a Gr.1 pedigree
Japanese thoroughbreds have proven their worth on the global stage and Aquis’ Brave Smash, a dual Gr.1-winning sprinter in Australia, is the covering sire of four mares in the draft led by Lot 668, the Fastnet Rock mare Our Girl Raquie who hails from one of the most sought after families in the Australian Stud Book, with close relations including Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice and the triple Gr.1-winning, Champion filly Shoals.
As the only dual group-winning son of Zoustar, the Aquis Seymour-based Lean Mean Machine was rewarded with a quality first book of mares last season, and Aquis have consigned some top quality mares including Lot 577, the stakes performed Strategic mare Bound To Blush, already the dam of the stakes winner Final Award.
Possessing plenty of juvenile speed on the track, Exceed And Excel’s Gr.3 Canonbury Stakes winner Performer is another Aquis first crop sire who is sure to appeal. Lot 297, the High Chaparral mare Magical Mist (NZ), a half-brother to Gr.1 winner Distill, is already the dam of the Aquis-consigned Ballistic Boy, a winner of this season’s Gr.3 Rough Habit Plate.
After three days of mare selling, our extensive draft of Weanlings are set to showcase a host of Aquis’ sire who will be represented by their first crop.
As Snitzel’s only Champion 2YO Colt, the first crop of Gr.1 Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Invader are sure to create a significant amount of interest including Lot 1072, a chestnut colt out of a winning daughter of Gr.1 Flight Stakes winner Danglissa, from the family of stakes winners Unite And Conquer, Euryale and Sweet Redemption.
Quality Gr.1 sprinter Spieth (NZ) has a large contingent on offer including Lot 950, the chestnut colt out of the stakes placed Not A Single Doubt mare Singularity, as well as Lot 959, a colt out of the Gr.1 winner Star Shiraz, closely related to Godolphin’s dual Gr.2-winning, Gr.1 placed Savatiano.
With the first crop of Gr.1 winner Divine Prophet (Choisir) selling extremely-well 12 months prior, Aquis will debut another first crop son of Choisir this year in the shape of Gr.1 winner The Mission. Lot 952 is a filly out the Elusive Quality mare Smarty Jane, herself a half-sister to the Gr.3 winner Cute Emily, and also to the dam of Choisir’s stakes winners Luger and Psychologist.
A Listed winner at 2, I Am Invincible’s speedy Kobayashi has a pair of colts in Aquis’ draft led by the colt out of Bound To Blush (Lot 1043), a half to Listed Canberra Guineas winner Final Reward, while Snitzel’s stakes-winning 2 and 3YO Jukebox is sure to prove very popular with pinhookers.
Lot 1107, is a bay Jukebox filly out of the juvenile stakes placed Kyria, from the family of stakes winners Benicio, Romneya, Always Allison and Villermont.
While relatively small in numbers compared to our Broodmare and Weanling drafts, Aquis will offer seven Yearlings for sale including a pair by resident Kiss And Make Up, a colt out of Sheer Sensation (Lot 1163) from the family of Gr.1 winners Zip Zip Array, Niconero and Nicconi, while Lot 1702 is a filly from the family of Starspangledbanner.
