A brilliant four length win in the griffin race at Sha Tin on Sunday for exciting prospect Lucky Master again highlights the incredible success in Hong Kong enjoyed by Holy Roman Emperor (IRE), who will shuttle back to Aquis Farm this spring.
Irish bred Lucky Master was sent out a hot favourite in the 1200 metre sprint and the Richard Gibson trained gelding gave punters no cause for concern when he bolted clear to win as he pleased.
Second at his first two starts, Lucky Master had race fitness and experience on his side this time and made it look all too easy.
“I know I only jogged along in front but I thought he quickened up well when I asked him,” said winning rider Chad Schofield.
“I think he’ll be better next season and I think there is definitely something to work with.”
Holy Roman Emperor is on track to take his second HK Champion Sire title by earnings having won it previously in 2014 before finishing second in 2015 and 2016.
Holy Roman Emperor proved very popular at Aquis Farm last spring covering 127 mares at a fee of $9,900 and returns at the same price this year.
