Aquis Farm is pleased to announce the acquisition of New Zealand bred sprinter Spieth.
The Bryce Heys trained five-year-old is a Listed winner that was twice placed second at Group I level – the VRC Darley Calssic (to Malaguerra) and Lightning Stakes (to Terravista).
A decision on whether to continue racing Spieth or take him to stud will be made following a spell.
“There is no leaning either way at this early stage. We’ll give him a break and reassesses from there,” Aquis Farm CEO Shane McGrath told Racing NSW.
“He’s an outcross, has speed and is an outstanding individual. He’s a 10 out of 10 physically and went within a lip of being a Group One winner.”
“Race credentials are one thing but physical presence is another and that’s what you want to see. If he produces yearlings that look like himself he’ll make a commercial stallion.”
A $200,000 NZB Premier purchase, he is by champion sire Thorn Park from a half-sister to European Group I winner Ransom O’War and further back we see Group I winner and promising shuttle sire Charm Spirit (IRE).
